Bali Tolak Reklamasi Art Event 2015: THE VIDEO AND STORY!

ForBALI has been struggling for a long time in their fight against the Benoa Bay Reclamation plan by now. They have been voicing their protests and spread awareness on the subject in many different ways; one of them being through the art programs they hold.

One of the events which they held recently was Nawa Sanga: Bali Tolak Reklamasi Art Event 2015 at Padang Galak Beach, Kesiman, Denpasar, on December 13, 2015. The event had an amazing line up of bands and theater performances, and not to mention a powerful spirit and message passed through its programs.

With no doubt, the line up of this art and cultural event consisted of those conscious artists and bands, who through their music and involvement in the movement of Bali Tolak Reklamasi have made a peaceful yet clear statement of where they stand in this matter.

Rollfast, Deep Sea Explorers, The Crotochip, Joni Agung, Mom Called Killer, Scared of Bums, The Bull Head and many more local bands made an excellent contribution in creating the event's vibe and feel to be enjoyed by everyone who was there. These bands were rocking, loud and bold; completely in tune with the event's theme.

It is safe to say that a big part of the crowd who were there were already armed with the awareness as well as a conscious mind about all the damage that reclamation of Benoa Bay will bring to mother earth. For this group of people, this event was a great gathering to share the spirit of this movement they're in together, and also to recharge their strength in this continuous endeavor by acknowledging that there are so many like-minded people out there who share the same vision. And of course, the more the merrier; as in movements like this every voice counts and needs to be heard.

Some others happened to be present for the free art and music event which was simply enjoyable and entertaining for most people. These people might have fallen under the category of those who were not that well-informed or well-aware about the reclamation issue and how it is a crucial problem. Now, by the end of that night, we can only assume that many of them went home equipped with at least some awareness about Bali Tolak Reklamasi.

To sum up the statements made by Wayan Gendo Suardana, ForBali's Coordinator, both during his on-stage speech as well as during our interview session at the venue, ForBALI and all the supporters of Bali Tolak Reklamasi are not going to stop the fight until they finally find a common ground. And in that scenario, the common ground is a place where the environment of our beloved island would actually be preserved, not damaged and drowned.

He also emphasized that the fight against the reclamation plan will continue. And the same goes to their demand for the government to revoke the Presidential Decree Number 51/ 2014 as this decree is the legal ground for the reclamation to take place.

Check out and feel free to share this video! It is an amazing cause, it is the voice of so many people and it has a great artistic value!

Corruption is one of the words that we sadly hear a little bit too often. Don’t get me wrong; the idea of corruption being discussed openly and having the awareness around the issue spread in all society is indeed very basic foundation of the struggle against it. The sad thing is just that this issue has been part of our days for what ...
