Sound of Mine: The Sound of Alternative Rock with a Touch of Blues and More!
Bali has sure seen the birth and progress of numerous bands this year, and here we are, happy to do our part related to the births and happenings related to the island's music scene! We are sure passionate to cheer for the newcomers to make their way and earn their place, of course starting in the local scene.
This week we have another newcomer that we'd like to welcome into the big happy indie music family of Bali, though we obviously know that it has been properly done for them by lots of others around here!
Meet Sound of Mine; a three-piece band consisting of Krisna on guitar and vocals, Iwan on bass, and Anta on drums. Sound of Mine basically falls under the category of alternative rock, with a touch of blues, funk and dance!
The name of the band came from one of Bali's music critics, Jappy Sanger. In his philosophy, the given name represents the idea that the sound is really their own, which describes a certain kind of freedom in voicing their creativity and work without being limited or bound by any musical borders or any specific genre.
Like many other stories, this band also started off as a fun project which wasn't exactly planned to turn into an actual ongoing band with a future. It was all just for the sake of fun. However, while having fun, they actually kind of got themselves flowing into turning the whole thing into something more committed and serious! The band got formed in 2014, and have stayed together, creating their own material ever since.
So far, the band has released two singles entitled "Baby" and "I Can't Believe", and they are currently working on their debut full-length album! They were thrilled to inform that they are expecting to be able to launch the album by the end of the year. Spoiler is that the album has 10 tracks, two of them being instrumental songs.
We hope that you're up for some catchy alternative rock, as we have lots to share from Sound of Mine here! More on both the music and stories side will be revealed during our interview followed by an acoustic live session, which will be broadcast on our radio on Sunday, September 11, 2024 at 10 PM Bali Time!
