5ks Till Kuta: From the Chill Vibes to the Deep Infectious Beats!

We are having such a great time enjoying the freedom we have in jumping from one genre of music to the other in this Artist of the Week program; which has served so many of us very well in sharing and connecting through music!

Moving on from our last featured artist's melodic metal core sound, this week we have decided to present something from the electronic music scene, focusing on the sounds dropped by the ones spinning here on the island!

Meet Halim Asad Ardie, currently better known as 5ks Till Kuta! Yes, it's a fun creative name, we thought that too! The guy was born in Palo Alto, California, raised in Jakarta, and currently based in Bali. He started out DJing in Jakarta in 2007, and that was after he enjoyed his share of time spent performing in punk, metal and ska bands in his younger age.

Over the years of DJing, 5ks Till Kuta slowly evolved his craft to the point it is presented these days. He collects tracks from all kinds of different genres and creates a unique show with his selections.

Having his experience working at various clubs as resident DJ, 5ks Till Kuta is accustomed to playing all night, spinning tracks for all kinds of moods! He combines funk and soul music for sunset, ambient chill vibes for dinner time, big beats to start the night, up to the deep infectious ones of the main-floor clubs.

Given all the above description of his music, it doesn't come off as a surprise that his influences are varied from all types of music including Blues, Metal, Rock and Funk. However, it was said that he finds himself most home in house music.

The concept of 5ks Till Kuta started out as an idea which turned into a self-titled weekly Internet radio show on the radio station RWD.fm based in America and broadcast around the world.

5ks Till Kuta shows involve live keys and drum machines all the while being broadcasted via live streaming. He shared his excitement about the new concepts coming his way soon!

His tracks will be played on our radio for two weeks straight every day at 7 AM, 12 PM, 7 PM and 12 AM! We'll have more surprises with 5ks Till Kuta very soon and we sure will keep you posted! Enjoy!

Raras Parasari

A sweet girlie voice and a very nice harmony of acoustic guitar is how I would describe this young talent, Raras Parasari, our Artist of the Week! Her music is soothing and catchy in a very good way, and can easily be a cup of tea for everyone, man and women, young and old! Her songs are written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English and are ...

Nahko and Medicine for the People rocking the stage of Bali Spirit Festival

Super bagus like Rolling Stoooones!! (private joke for the lucky ones who got to see them live in Bali!) Nahko & Medicine For The People is probably one of the most talented band we ever had the chance to meet. The kind of people that gives you hope for the human race. The kind of music (especially live) that gives you goose bumps, and a big ...

Tom & the Limits

“This is not Reggae”. The title of their E.P. is deeply connected to their geographical origin, Gili Trawangan. As they describe their music as inspired by the small island, they prove that it does not have to mean they are the obligatory reggae band reigning over the beach. Tom & the Limits sound has ...

Rupture.- Stevans

Switzerland.  A small European country mostly famous through flattering, but outdated clichés:   Its fabulous lakes, its mountains and forest landscape, its banks and chocolate, its law-abiding citizen and clean cities. Rarely, we hear about its music scene abroad (except maybe, in Deep Purple’s “Smoke ...

Primitif

'It has been a while since we had some reggae sounds on our Artist of the Week program, and it's about time for us to catch up a little bit with what the Indonesian indie music scene has to offer from this particular genre. Meet Primitif, a reggae band from Jakarta, known for their originality in their music and their awesome ...

Still mingling in the indie music scene of Bali and still totally enjoying the process of exploring the talents presented in the island's bands!
