Raras Parasari
A sweet girlie voice and a very nice harmony of acoustic guitar is how I would describe this young talent, Raras Parasari, our Artist of the Week! Her music is soothing and catchy in a very good way, and can easily be a cup of tea for everyone, man and women, young and old! Her songs are written in both Bahasa Indonesia and English and are mostly about love. They are delivered in simple and honest lyrics, far away from being corny, and easy to relate to.
Raras has studied at Institut Kesenian Jakarta, Faculty of Performing Arts, Majoring in Classical Guitar, and has a list of achievements in various music competitions both playing the guitar and melodica. She started her musical career as a performer as well as classical guitar instructor in Jakarta, and has lived in Bali for over a year now, adding a nice variety to the local music scene through her regular gigs in several cool venues around the southern part of the island. She plays her original songs and also covers which she performs in her own style. It's really worth checking her out, people!
Don't miss the interview and live session on Sunday 4 pm. And in the meantime, listen to her songs for a whole week long at 9 a.m., 12 a.m., 7 p.m, and 00 a.m. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ma-Yd1iBbHI
