Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2014

Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang 2014

Fingers are crossed as a big swell rolls through this Thursday, but the question is will it be big enough for the barrel fest that is the Rip Curl Cup Padang-Padang 2014?

Wave so nice they had to name it twice, Padang-Padang will have to be firing and time is getting near, with one big swell already putting all on high alert last week.  There is still a lot of time for anticipation for a solid swell to roll through during this 6 week waiting period that runs from July 5 to August 17.

The Trials and opening ceremony have come and gone with Rahtu Suargita securing his second Rip Curl Cup wild card placing and the Bukit local Kiki Hendrawan getting a pass as well.

The opening ceremony that happened last Saturday was another beautiful occasion that excited everyone, as all 24 surfers selected for the 2014 Rip Curl Cup were introduced with the announcing of the heat draws and a captivating Balinese Kecak dance to make things official.

The guys and girls at Rip Curl and every other surfing enthusiast on the island will wait to see if this will be just another throw back Thursday or one for the Padang Padang tube riding books. Only our dear sweet mother (nature) can tell and we just have to shut up and listen.
