Remember the Rain: An Alternative Indie Band from an Island Full of Sunshine!
Rain stands for soothing ideas. In many cultures rain symbolizes prosperity too. Rain represents the blessing of water and water stands for life. Dancing in the rain also sounds like something carefree, refreshing and it always seems like a terrific idea most of the time; releasing the inner child we all have and just embrace the drops of pouring rain.
So, when someone says “Remember the Rain(?)” the common brain reaction to the impulse would be to let your mind wander somewhere. Or to the least, picture some rain in your mind. That's pretty nice, right?
Well, this week on Artist of the Week, we have the guys who are kind of the ones responsible the whole rain-rant above (that we did enjoy, by the way). We are happy to present you with REMEMBER THE RAIN, one of the island’s alternative bands that consists of three gentlemen; Dedy (guitar), Didit (drums) and Ade (vocals).
Dedy and Didit are not exactly new to working and creating together. They both used to be in a band named Artmosphere. As their previous band went through a long hiatus, these two guys continued walking their musical path through performing as session players in several bands. This was of course until they decided that it was time to remember the rain.
REMEMBER THE RAIN was formed back in the end of 2013 to represent the creative ideas that these two friends were excited to share. The name was born during their contemplation of what most humans will have in their thoughts while standing under pouring rain. It was friendship, creativity, in this particular case; the talk about the mind vs rain, plus a nice cup of coffee that brought these guys to commit on a new band. Later on they met Ade, the rocker, who was just right to the position on vocals. And just like that, the formation was complete.
To make things even better, these guys made great use of having other talented musicians as friends! They invited their close friends from their hang outs to collaborate and add some more color to their work that was being recorded for their EP! Sanjay from THEKANTIN who is also known as the half of Pygmy Marmoset helped out with his guitar tunes, while Rizky Pratama from D’Afternoon lend a hand on the bass tracks.
With a little help from fellow musicians, the band finished their debut EP entitled “DIAM, DENGAR, RASAKAN”,which translates into "be quiet, listen, feel it" which was released last year in this very month of September. This album consists of five original songs which carry a certain shoegaze feel. The band also said that their music is influenced by British rock sounds like Coldplay and Radiohead as well as the alternative rock sounds of Straightener.
Tune in for the band's tracks on the radio for two full weeks starting from September 21, 2024 – October 4, 2015, every day at 7 am, 12 pm, 7 pm and 12 am Bali Time!
