Keeping It Rocking and Rolling with Young Guns!
After having enjoyed some originals from the island's country rockabilly band, John & the Jail Story, this week we have decided to move on to a rock and roll band, also based here on the island!
Meet Young Guns; an energetic three piece rock and roll band consisting of Lakzzy on vocal and guitar, Jaguar on bass and backing vocals and Ngontel on drums. They have been together since 2009; happily and totally rocking it, up until the present day!
Like many other musicians on the island, these guys as well, happen to be kept busy with their role as one of the island's cover bands at various venues around the nightlife and tourism areas of South Bali.
By now, they have proven to be very good at re-doing cover songs and they have what it takes to go through a rich playlist of various genres of music while mostly adding their particular flavor and style to it, which kind of explains why most tracks normally ends up a little more rock and roll in their hands!
While it is indeed essential to keep themselves out there sharing their passion and talent(and of course to make a good living out of music), these guys have been pretty committed to put aside some time to create their own music as well.
Their sound is generally vintage with bluesy and rock & roll funky elements in it. They admit that it is kind of hard for them to actually specifically define the genre of their music. However, they have made their peace and are completely open to the idea of everyone having their own opinion about what their sound should be called.
These guys have been busy with process of creating their original songs for some time now, and so far they have recorded and released one single titled I Wanna Run. This track has a very strong rock sound in it, with this certain feel that brings us back to the era when classic rock was one of the most wanted sound on the menu.
While their debut single can be found online, these guys have their further recording session for another couple singles scheduled very soon. With the right amount of struggle and luck, they should be able to release their debut album soon. Well, we like their sound; so fingers crossed!
In the mean time, these three have been pretty active in documenting their live gigs and yes, they do rock the covers, very much! And we are ready to share more of their original tracks on the live session which will be broadcast along with the interview session, on Sunday, December 19, 2023 at 10 PM Bali Time with a re-run on the following Sunday at the same time!
Their tracks will be played on our radio for two weeks straight every day at 7 AM, 12 PM, 7 PM and 12 AM! Stay tuned and check them out! Support our local musicians!

“This is not Reggae”. The title of their E.P. is deeply connected to their geographical origin, Gili Trawangan.
