6/30/2013 Art For Ocean
You're in Bali. Say, Kuta. You're chilling at the beach, you're sipping coconut drinks; maybe a beer on your hand. All the while people are passing you back and forth offering knick knaks. One sip of beer and BAM! An old lady asks you "Bracelets, Miss? Cheap.." You're taking a sip of that amazing coconut water, and BAM! A guy carrying wooden bow and arrows approached you, going all "Mister, buy this beautiful weapon?" Another coming and BAM! Somebody's selling you paintings. BAM! Posters. BAM! Temporary Tattoos. BAM! Before you know it you're already exposed to numerous arts and crafts, all around the face of the ocean.
Simply put, being on this Island means you are constantly exposed to Art, and Ocean. Celia Greggory from The Marine Foundation uses her own approach in encorporating Art and Ocean from a completely different angle. A much more beautiful, dynamic, and serene angle. It's beautiful, it's edgy, It's innovative, and it saves the ocean dwellers, one Art project at a time.
Some of you may have heard of The Marine Foundation's Under Water Sculptures. They are placed in Several different sites all around Bali. Quoting their website www.themarinefoundation.org their campaign, "Art for Oceans" is about creatively engaging in this issue, bringing above the surface the beauty and value of the underwater world, captivating our imagination and inspiring motivation, action and custodianship. Bringing alive what is unseen below.
Having Celia coming to the studio and shared with us her ideas, visions, and experiences completely changed my view of this whole "save the ocean" issues that's been around us worldwide for quite sometimes. It is no longer depressing. It's now fun, engaging, and really brings about this new idea that this can be a great adventure for all. Everyone can be a part of this journey, this projects, and we can all watch it grow. She enthusiastically answered all the questions I had about her background, her ideas, and of course - as I always asked every single one of my guest - the "What brought you to Bali?" question popped. Her answer - far beyond what I expected - involved a near death experience following a Flight Incident, specifically the one in this video below.
For the future underwater sculpture projects, festivals, and campaigns, Celia added that volunteers would be very much appreciated. The Marine Foundation also look forward to work in collaboration with new artists. With that said, if you are an artist, a company interested in being involved in the next "Art For Ocean" project, or just a fellow earthling wanting to participate with your time and skills, Celia would be happy to further talk to you about it. All interested parties are advised to contact her at [email protected]In the mean time, watch some of the fun we had at the World's Oceans Day. An event organized and funded by The Marine Foundation

ARTIST OF THE WEEK
The modern-day kind of magic can be defined as those amazing things that only happen to certain ones who dream big, work hard, truly believe in their goal, and on top of that all; those whose minds are creative enough to be inspired to have that one big dream to begin with. A dream just surreal enough to be certain that it is actually big...
