NARMADA PARK (TAMAN NARMADA)

Narmada Park, located in the village of Lembuah, Narmada district, West Lombok, was once known as the relaxation place of the royal family during the 18th century. The place covers about 2 hectares and was built in 1727 by the king of Mataram, Anak Agung Ngurah Karangasem. Aside from being the getaway spot for the royals, this place's main function was to hold the Pakelem ceremony which was held every full moon once in 5 Caka years.
In the 20th park and the sites within it were in very bad condition, which led to the reconsrtuction of the site which occured between 1980 - 1988, bringing the ancient beauty back to live.
The complex of this park can be divided into several parts; the main gate, the part called the Jabalkap, the twin lake, the Paduraksa Gate, the part called Mukedes, the Padmawangi Lake, the Loji Hall, the Bright Hall, the part called Patandaan, the sekepat or gazebos, the Bancingah Hall, the Kelasa Temple as well as the iconic Lingsar Temple, giving you plenty of sites and objects to experience and see.
The name Narmada was taken from one of the sacred rivers in India, Narmadanadi, matching the concept of this garden which has a Hindu temple and fountain called The Fountain of Youth, believed to be able to bless people with a long life.
The best time to explore Taman Narmada is in between 7am to 6pm. There is a small entrance fee of 10 000 Rp and the staff is helpful and friendly.
