Fine for Adultery
Jembrana residence of Bali will have to adjust their sex life accordingly with the recent Policy placed by the Local Government of Banjar Tengah, Jembrana, Negara, Bali. A married person who still enjoy getting some on the side would be fined if caught cheating, and any other unmarried couple caught committing adultery will have to pay the same fine of Rp. 1,000,000 as well.
The Banjar Tengah’s Bendesa, I Ketut Sudjana have led door to door sweeping that was originally done to track down any ISIS supporter or volunteer, and now using the same method to crack down adulterer in the area.
Couples who are caught living together and having a sexual relationship but unable to proof they are legally married are immediately taken to the Banjar to be tried and fined. They also have to pay for a ceremony to the Banjar as well.
This fine is seen to be a better punishment for adultery compared to the previous policy of stripping down and parading adulterer around the village as punishment, considering the moral consequences that everyone would have to bear.
As of now, we know this policy is placed for that specific area in Negara only. If Local Government all over the island decides to adopt this practice, it would be a bad day for countless number of people.
