After having presented French Chanson and Beatbox artist, WAB, as our last Artist of the Week, we have decided to take a good look around us and follow after the local sounds! We ended up setting our mind on one of Bali's indie bands called SEEMS, who are currently working on finalizing their sophomore album! Exciting moments for them for sure and perfect timing for us to get them to share some stories, spoilers and of course, music!

SEEMS equals Onki on guitar, Wilson on bass, Dennisha on vocals and Jayak on drums. These guys have been around for quite a few years now; since 2009 to be exact. They've been known for the modern rock music they had shared on the indie music festivals held on the island over the past years.

It might indeed have been a while since any of you have spotted the name of this band on festival banners, posters, line-ups, or anything along those lines! The simple explanation to the situation would be that SEEMS had been ‘away' and/or ‘busy' for a while. Rumors had it that they were on a hiatus for all that time, but it was one of those classic cases where you shouldn't believe everything you hear, because they were apparently busy preparing their sophomore album!

A couple months ago, they purposely chose February related to its association to the month of love, as the moment to release their debut single from their upcoming EP. The single is titled "Cara Yang Berbeda" which translates into "A Different Way"; an acoustic ballad which tells about love and the perception of it from different points of view.

In their press release about their debut single, they also explained that this release will be followed by four other singles by the end of this year's first semester. And following the success of their previous album's single hits such as It Seems, Hello-Hello and All the Way, they are thrilled to finally be able to once again share more of their work with the indie music audience of the island!

In this upcoming album, SEEMS still holds on to their sound which generally falls under the genre of Modern Rock. They continue rocking all the differences of the band members' music backgrounds and personal preferences as well as influences as a great asset to actually blend and combine a nice variety of sounds into their sound. They did say though, that as a band they are influenced by American rock band, Paramore. And yes, it might have something to do with the fact that they too are a modern rock band with a female vocalist, but of course there is more to it!

Curious yet? The single will be broadcast on our station for two weeks (April 18 - May 1, 2024) at 7 AM, 12 PM, 7 PM and 12 AM Bali Time!
