Shaggydog is an Indonesian band which started its journey in Sayidan, a neighborhood in Jogjakarta, Central Java, back in 1997. A couple years later, the band released their self-titled debut album under an independent record label called DoggyHouse Records, followed by their sophomore album entitled "Bersama" which was also what lead them into the stage where their name really got big in 2003.

Shaggydog's music is catchy in the best possible way, which is probably why they have a pretty huge fan base across Indonesia and beyond, which seems to keep on growing too! They call their genre "DoggyStylee", which sums up an awesome blend of sound ingredients such as ska, reggae, jazz, swing, and rock, to name a few.

Over the years, Shaggydog has always managed to keep that special place they have gained in their fan bases spread nationwide. Their old tracks are still played and frequently heard up until these days, and they sure are familiar to the generation much younger than some of the tracks itself. Shaggydog's success is not only limited to the national scale. The band has spread their love through their music in the Netherlands, Japan, USA, and many more countries.

After the past three years of hard work, Shaggydog is back with a brand new album entitled Putra Nusantara, which translates into Son of the Nusantara. Nusantara itself is a contemporary Indonesian term used to refer to the Indonesian archipelago. For this sixth album, the band has also decided to return to where they started as an indie band, and so this album is released with DoggyHouse Records.

The album consists of 12 songs, and the debut single of the album will be released on Indonesia's Independence Day on August 17, 2016, on radios across Indonesia, including here on Baliradio.net!!! All tracks were recorded at Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja by Jogjakarta's well-respected sound engineer, Eko "Pak Ting" Supriyatno, and the mastering was done at Abbey Road Studio, London, by Andy Walter.

In this brand new album, the band has explored more sounds and added some new elements into their "DoggyStylee" blend! They added a hint of rap, a pinch of jazz, a bit of dub, a dash of electronic, and a taste of the traditional Javanese sound called Suluk. Together they mix, match, combine and create their own particular freshness of balance, feel, sound and style of music.

One of the other awesome qualities of this album is the fact that it involves a number of celebrated artists outside of the band. The contributing well-known names are Iwa K, Sujiwo Tejo, Danar "Souljah", DJ Kateratchy, as well as Tony the Weed. All those musicians are each featured in a track in this new colorful album which obviously brought together a number of Indonesia's talents.

Aside from gathering those above musicians, Shaggydog also invited Indonesia's regarded Photoshop maestro, Agan Harahap, to create the artwork for the album cover. However, for this project he used a different approach than what he is famous for. In this project, he put in practice a shading and gradation technique in reinterpreting the meaning of the phrase, Putra Nusantara.

The music video of Putra Nusantara, directed by Sidartha Tata (Kebon Studio), will be launched on August 17, 2024 on Shaggydog's official Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/THEDOGGYTV, while the album will be available on online music stores such as iTunes, Deezer, Spotify and many more! The physical record will be released on CD and LP records along with their promo tour to cities across Indonesia.

Once again, we are super excited to be one of the radio stations participating in the simultaneous release of the single Putra Nusantara, on August 17, 2016!!! And while counting down to that, we will play two older singles from the band's previous albums to remind you of how awesome their sound is, before presenting you with their brand new exciting tune!
