RAFTING ON THE AYUNG RIVER

RAFTING ON THE AYUNG RIVER

Take a day to go rafting on the Ayung River and trip across the Balinese jungle like Indiana Jones, only without all the shooting. The perfect balance between action and sightseeing.

And you won’t need to be a fearless rafting champion to take the tour:

The difficulty level won’t go beyond level III, which makes it perfectly safe for beginners. Easy, but certainly not boring : Shooting the rapids should give you that adrenaline kick you’ve been craving for. Make a stop anytime to observe iguanas, birds, bats and monkeys going about their everyday jungle life, or just take a refreshing swim under a waterfall.

Local organizations are professional and very well prepared. They provide good rafting equipment and have rescuing license, just in case. They can organize your day so you don’t have to worry about anything.

Once a small village, Kuta is the heart of tourism in Bali, with its good sides and, well, maybe not so good ones. 40 km from Denpasar, Nusa Dua, in the Bukit (the southern peninsula), is the ideal place for resting. And if you get bored on the beach, waterskiing, jet skiing, paragliding kite surfing or windsurfing will help you break the routine. However, don’t expect any “pure Bali” experience: The area was built as a tourist resort on ...

Liberty wreck, a U.S. Navy in Tulamben, a small village located 30 km away from Amed. The wreck lies in shallow water, so it is also visible if you’re snorkeling. However, the wreck is ...

THE SACRED MONKEY FOREST

Located on the south end of, well, the Monkey Forest Road, the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud is an invitation for a short walk in the jungle and a visit the Dalem Agung Padantegal, a temple under the protection of monkeys.  It’s quite fun to see them play around in the trees and even take a dive in the small pond near the temple. As ...
