AROUND BALI

Gili Islands

Gili Islands

Meaning 'Small Island', this cluster of three islands has escaped the trappings of modern life, with their undeveloped, immaculate sandy beaches and lush tropical vegetation.

Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air were 'discovered' by party-loving backpackers in the eighties. Horse-drawn carts replace automobiles and motorbikes as the main form of transport. Beautiful white beaches, clear blue water and outstanding marine life make the Gilis an ideal destination for diving and snorkeling.

Known as the turtle capital of the world, this is the place to watch baby turtles make their debut in the water as they are released from the hatchery.

Borobudur

Located in Central Java, the Borobudur temple is an 8th century monument and a World Site Heritage. It is one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in the world.
