AROUND BALI

Gili Islands

Gili Islands

Meaning 'Small Island', this cluster of three islands has escaped the trappings of modern life, with their undeveloped, immaculate sandy beaches and lush tropical vegetation.

Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air were 'discovered' by party-loving backpackers in the eighties. Horse-drawn carts replace automobiles and motorbikes as the main form of transport. Beautiful white beaches, clear blue water and outstanding marine life make the Gilis an ideal destination for diving and snorkeling.

Known as the turtle capital of the world, this is the place to watch baby turtles make their debut in the water as they are released from the hatchery.

Komodo Island

Located between Sumbawa and Flores, the Komodo Island is home to Jurassic Park-like, famous Komodo dragons. The Komodo lizards are indigenous to the region and grow up to three meters long (making them the world's largest living lizards). There are nearly 5,700 Komodo dragons in the park, spread over three large islands of Komodo, ...

Nusa Lembongan

This time I’m taking you on another quick trip across the Badung Straits and a 40 minute boat ride from Sanur we disembark on another journey 20km away from it all for a night in the sleepy little island of Nusa Lembongan.
