Jazzy Evenings in Exquisite Ubud: The Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2014

Jazzy Evenings in Exquisite Ubud: The Ubud Village Jazz Festival 2014

Bali is most definitely one of those places that grows rapidly in a rhythm that has somehow manages to match the pretty laid back flow that this island has always had. Combined with its distinct heritage, colorful traditions and remarkable natural beauty, the development of the rather modern cultural aspects on this island, for example today’s music scene, has grown pretty successfully especially in the past few years of this last decade. It has most definitely made the very best out of the popularity and artsy image that has been associated with the island pretty much since forever.

One of the forms of these developing modern cultures of the island is the trend of music festivals held, involving national and international performers as well as audience hailing to Bali from all over. Following the success by a number of well-respected annual festival which have maintained to earn attention on a pretty broad regional to global scale, Yuri Mahatma (musician/ composer / music teacher) together with Anom Darsana (director and owner of Antida Music Productions) decided to enrich Bali’s growing music scene by founding and creating another music festival gathering dedicated to those who love jazz or simply love a great quality of music.

Ubud Village Jazz Festival had its debut two-day music concert last year on this very month of August, presenting a wonderful addition to the existing annual music festivals worth marking your calendar for. The fact that this festival is held in the lush greenery of ravishing Ubud is yet another win that this event got covered. Besides, the delightful idea that this festival involves the local people from around the area to collaborate and work together with all the other groups of people who make this event happen, which does bring a certain sense of community.

This year’s Ubud Village Jazz Festival is held on August-8-9, 2014 in the charming very Ubud-ish  scene of Arma Museum and the line-up shows numerous well-respected names both from Indonesia and other sides of the globe, to name a few, Deborah Carter, Alexandre Cunha, the GAPP Projects & Dave Barlow, Yuri Mahatma & Astrid Sulaiman, Dwiki Dharmawan & Kamal Musallam, Gilad Hekselman,  Ben Van Den Dungen Quartet and many more!

If you weren't there this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next year! Also check out the smaller monthly events on www.ubudvillagejazzfestival.com.
