Bali Art Festival XXXVI: Bali's Month of Celebrating the Blessing of Art & Culture

All the diverse bright colors of local culture, the rich mix of generations-old heritage combined with all aspects of today’s  influence, the enthusiasm towards the celebration of life, art and traditions make most events in Bali even much more interesting, especially for first timers!

Bali Art Festival, locally known as Pesta Kesenian Bali has arrived for the 36th time this year! This annual oldest well-respected art festival held by Bali’s Government is opening on Friday, June 13, 2014 and will turn Denpasar into an even more cultured city for a full month, until July 12, 2014.

The festival will be opened on the monument area in the park of Renon (Rakyat Bali Monumen Perjuangan), marked by the annual magnificent street festival and the official opening speech by the President. All the other performances and activities throughout the month will be held at Werdi Budaya Art Center in Denpasar. Even though the festival is held in Denpasar, just like all the years before, participants from all regions from all nine regencies across Bali will be part of it, each represented by their finest artists and young talents to perform and promote their hometown’s specialty as well as new creations.

The festival will involve over 170 performances and it is a huge deal for Indonesia’s national calendar of cultural and art events. So if you happen to be on the island anytime during this festive season, you definitely have to mark your calendar for a night or two blending with the locals, expats, students, tourists and everyone else, embracing the Island’s month of awareness in cultivating, appreciating and celebrating the blessing of the Island’s distinct and rich culture and art.
