A Tragic End to the Search: Rest in Peace, Angeline...

It’s been over three weeks since Angeline was reported missing, and over the weeks Angeline's sweet face has become very familiar to most of us, especially the ones in Bali and throughout Indonesia. We see her face and read about her in the news, on posts on different social media platforms, all kinds of public places, and sure many of us has included her in our prayers, while waiting for some good news to finally surface; hoping for the best, though it was for sure looking worse and scarier as the time went by.

Angeline's family and close ones were busy "seeking help" from anyone who'd be willing to, volunteers went out on the field in effort to assist the police in their search and investigation, tons of people from various communities shared the information on the internet, NGOs spoke up about each and every possibility indicated by the situation; including the extreme scenarios that we were all scared of to be true, where Angeline was not abducted nor lost her way home, but was actually murdered.

Today (Wednesday, June 10, 2015), Angeline was found dead in her own backyard, under a banana tree, under a whole pile of garbage, nearby the chicken coop that was often mentioned in the news updates about the little girl's living situation with her adopted family. She was found holding her favorite Korean doll. Her body seemed to have been there all along, ever since she was reported missing.

Angeline's body was brought in for an autopsy this afternoon, and after having examined her body for one and a half hours, the forensics have announced that she had died around three weeks ago. They also announced to one of the local newspapers that they found bruises on her neck, face, upper limbs and lower limbs, and also bruises from ropes that were tied around her body. They also found wounds caused by cigarette burns on her right shoulder. The cause of death is reportedly blunt force trauma on the little girl's head.

Eight of Angeline's adopted family members, including her adopted mother Margaret, and her adopted sisters Yvonne and Christina, are now held as suspect of her murder. One of the national newspapers reported that the motive of murder might be the inheritance left to Angeline by her late adopted father who died three years ago. However, the local police spokesman has not commented on it yet.

This case has been a high profile case ever since Angeline was reported missing. We started off with hashtags and comments along the lines of "help find Angeline", and now we have come to the day where the hashtags and posts are all condolences and prayers for this little angel to rest in peace. Good bye, Angeline. May you rest in peace.
